5728. Narrated Sa’d: The Prophet (pbuh) said. “If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter: but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place.”
The Board of the Islamic Awareness Center has been closely monitoring the situation. After consultation with the Imam, multiple doctors, and other faith leaders as well as researching Sahih Al- Bukhari Book 71 it has been decided and approved by both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee to close Masjid Al-Tawheed and the Islamic Awareness Center effective immediately. Consequently, the Masjid and Awareness Center doors will remain locked and all prayer services have been suspended.
The Chow Pantry and Soup Kitchen protocols are posted on the doors. These guidelines will be strictly enforced and no one will be permitted in to the building. The hours for food pick up are 11am. -1 pm. You may call the masjid at 607-723-0966 for food emergencies.
This was a very difficult decision to make, but as Muslims we had the beauty of being guided by salat istikhara.
The Islamic Awareness Center (IAC) is dedicated to the cause of Islam in North America. Our focus is on providing the correct information about Islamic beliefs, history and practices from authentic sources. Our goal is to promote a better understanding of Islam and Muslims.
The Islamic Awareness Center was established in 2001 in Binghamton, NY. It is a Da’wah Organization. The working definition of Da’wah for the “Islamic Awareness Center” is to convey the true message of Islam to non-Muslims, and to try and remove misinformation about Islam and Muslims.
For anyone wanting to know more about Islam and Muslims, please feel free to visit the center. We invite you with open arms and look forward to sharing our Beliefs, tenants, and/or answering any questions you may have in regards to Islam.
